Lapsing in ibaadat….

So the last couple of days I’ve been lapsing in my ibaadat…. I’m not reading enough quran majid and my mind is beginning to wonder about worldly things whilst I’m praying which is not a good sign.  I’m also having mood swings resulting in me throwing a couple of hissy fits now and again.  This could be because PMS is approaching but none the less my short fuse needs to be kept under wraps at least for this month.

How do you keep your minds focused when you’re praying??? Sometimes when i catch myself drifting I try to snap out of it by reminding myself that I’m standing before my lord…. but thats only when i catch myself drifting away….. I guess learning to understand more arabic might help…. no???

A week of Ramadhan has past already and I’m feeling an amazing peaceful tranquality & reassurance (otherwise known as sakina) that this blessed month always brings.  I’ve got no words to describe the feeling but this nasheed by native deen might some it up……

It’s taken me a while to get into the momentum of things this year……. The fasting hasn’t been so bad but sleeping only for 5 hours a day has proved to be very testing. That and passing through the Krispy Kreme store or the array of take a ways where the aroma of donuts or doner meat tries to lure me in……

At work I also had the usual array of questions that Suga mentioned in her blog but this year my colleagues decided they were going to give me their lunches or penny sweets to hold whilst they questioned me as to why I’m torturing myself.  The worst bit is the same people ask me the same questions year after year!!!

Next year I plan to draw up some FAQs and make sure I distribute them amongst my colleagues prior to ramadan….

My Goals for Ramadan

As the first taraweeh prayer commences tomorrow night, I have used today to set myself some clear cut goals to help me achieve a deeper sense of spritual awareness. Inspired from 10 great goals to set for this Ramadan and The objectives of ramadhan fasting

1. To Learn at least 4 new Surahs during the course of the month.

2. Inshallah to complete the quran majid at least once during the course of the month. To improve my tawjeed skills by emulating the recitation of a sheikh/hafiz.

3. To try & pray the taraweeh prayer in congregation

4. Increase dhikr “Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction (Qur’an, 13:28).”

5. Focusing on learning/reading more on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH)

6. Avoid excessive spending.

7. The biggest goal – to not just do the above for just the course of ramadhan but to inshallah continue afterwards which will also help me focus on jihad al nafs (the fight against the inner evils).

Please share your goals for Ramadhan here………

I lurveeeeeeeee Primark – There I said it!!!! When you have a few squid to your name and in desperate need of some retail therapy…….. Primark (and H&M) is a god send!!!

Yesterday I trailed through the long line of men outside primark(men that hate shopping but have tagged along with their other halves) into the store diving straight into the parade of ladies infront of me almost tripping over my own feet.  I came out of the storm with a nice kaftan which goes very nicely with a bracelet & indigo jeans I have………Im quite chuffed with my purchase

Those of you who have visited the store will know what im talking about……… Shopping at Primark is a challenge in itself.  You’ll always find an absurd amount of ladies combing through size 16 plus clothes hoping to find an item of clothing sized between 8-12.  Then as a a decent piece of clothing unfolds you’ll get 50 women jump for it!!!

I was just about to knock off to sleep when I heard a barrage of buzzes coming from my side of the bed!!! I jumped out of bed thinking I was going to be attacked by a swarm of bees but then recomposed myself, it was midnight, why on earth would I be hearing bees at this time……. I approached the window and the noise got louder….. It seems like I have a BEE HIVE just below my bedroom window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  If that wasn’t enough, around 7 wasps strolled their way into my bedroom & the buzzing was now driving me nuts……
My husband fed up from my constant tossing, turning and tutting got up and a moment later the wasps met their fate ……… muahahahahahahahahahahahahah (actually I do feel a tad guilty)Dead Wasps

Now to deal with the hive!!!!  First I’m in need of some retail therapy………
